booking your session
sessions run all year round, and tend to fill quickly. laura accepts a limited number of sessions per month. contact us today to make sure your date is available.
for your convenience, we also have an online calendar where you can view and request available dates.
when you book your session, laura will mail you a packet of detailed session information (e.g. choosing a location, what to wear, how to prepare, what to expect, etc.).
laura's style
laura's approach to kid's photography is decidedly un-traditional, and absolutely way more fun. her style incorporates your child's unique personality into the creative process. she organizes a seemingly simple shoot to produce timeless portraits with a dash of classic – even vintage – imagery.
before you book your session, look through the images this web gallery. let laura know which portraits speak to you most, and what you like about them.
as your personal photographer, laura wants to capture your child's personality and character and tell a story about who they are.
the pre-shoot consultation
your pre-shoot consultation is an important part of the creative process. once your session date is booked, laura will contact you to arrange a 30-minute pre-shoot consultation. you'll have a conversation (preferably in person) to determine location, wardrobe, look and feel, and other particulars for the shoot.
the session itself
all portrait sessions are held outdoors whenever possible. laura has lots of great 'secret' locations up her sleeve, which she can discuss during your pre-shoot consultation. sessions begin two hours before sundown for the best possible light. they typically range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the child.
post-session
within a few weeks of your session, laura will contact you to arrange a meeting to view your images. then, your images will be posted online where you can view, share, and place enlargement orders. your images will remain hosted online for 30 days. additional hosting can be purchased for $50/month.
annual east coast tour
having lived and worked in washington, d.c., for ten years, laura enjoys coming back to document growing kids and families every year. her east coast trip is usually in september or october, and session slots tend to fill up a few months in advance. watch laura's "diary" blog for details on locations and dates!
