laura lowery is an exclusive children's photographer who believes good photography tells a story. in nearly a decade spent photographing kids, she has amassed quite a collection of tales – often lively, and always very real.

laura has been known to arrive at outdoor shoots carefully dragging a worn out travel trunk filled with vintage boots, hats and other visual treasures – all kid-sized, of course.

at a shades of gray photography™ shoot, it is perfectly acceptable to wear an enormous tulle skirt to the beach while sporting rubber boots on your feet… mostly because ballet slippers don't cut it for splashing in the surf. plain denim, a faded tee and bare feet are also lovely in her eyes, because her portraits are about each child – not the wardrobe. clothing and accessory choices draw out a child's personality to complement, never cover, who they really are.

laura works with kids of all ages, and her approach to each session is personal. her unique artistic vision may mean that she is not the right photographer for everyone, and that's okay with her. she loves her work and looks for clients who are looking for her.

laura savors vanilla lattes, aging cowboy boots, worn out jeans, vineyards, and anything with sugar. she grew up on a nursery farm in oregon, and still feels tremendous nostalgia whenever she sets foot in a greenhouse. she loves her family and friends tremendously. oh, and she really likes cameras and kids. go figure!
